Dr. Verena Burk is from the Uni Tübingen and the International University Sports Federation FISU. The organizing committee met under her control in an effort to pave the way for a successful WUC Beach Volleyball event.
First, the participants were informed about the construction work of the new beach volleyball facilities which are developed in the Olympiapark Munich. 13 new fields will be newly built in this area. After the WUC, they will be accessible for the students from the Hochschulsport München.
The planning is sustainable and energy efficient: Accommodation, meeting rooms and event site are within walking distance, or easily accessible by bike or with public transportation – quick and environmentally friendly. After the group was informed about the infrastructure, a discussion followed. The discussion was about the revision and determination of the OC’s structure as well as about the subordinate working groups.
The six resorts – competition, finances, PR and marketing, competition management, logistics, protocol – will be staffed by two people each. Together with the president Dr. Burk and vice-president Michael Hahn (ZHS Munich) and Christoph Fischer (adh-secretary general) they form the organizing committee.
Besides the consultation about the patronage and the cast of the honorary committee, the participants discussed the job advertisement for an organizing committee management. The next meeting is planned for mid-February 2017.
“Like during the WUC Equestrian 2012 in Aachen, Germany wants to be a good host for this international major sports event and wants to provide perfect conditions in July 2018. The first OC-meeting is a positive outlook that we are on the right way with the preparations for the WUC Beach Volleyball”, Dr. Burk evaluates the meeting very positive.
Christoph Fischer is looking forward to the event full of anticipation: “The sustainable concept, the premature planning and the good cooperation within the OC are important factors for a successful organization of the WUC Beach Volleyball. We are already pleased to welcome active participants from all over the world here in Munich and we want that everyone feels comfortable.”
