February 8th – With only six months to go to the 2018 FISU World University Beach Volleyball Championship (WUBC), the first meeting of the Organising Committee (OC) took place on February 2nd. Dr. Verena Burk, President of the WUBC and member of the Executive Committee of the World Federation of University Sports (FISU), led the session. The focus was on the reports of the different working areas, the finalization of the timetable of the competition, the development of the cultural program and the detailed planning of the staff.
On the campus of the TU Munich, the OC members presented the current planning status of the areas of competition, logistics, marketing, protocol and finances and decided on important topics. A focus of the meeting was on the preliminary presentation of the competition schedule presented by competition director Roland Höfer. The tournament will start on Monday, July 9, 2018, with the group matches. The finals on Friday, July 13 at 15:00 (ladies) and 16:00 (men) will complete the competition. This ensures a smooth process for all athletes and will offer an exciting top-class sports program for spectators. The detailed planning will be published soon at www.wucbeachvolley2018.com.
"We are pleased about the outstanding number of registrations and look forward to some high-quality games. The World University Championship Beach Volleyball will be completed by various cultural programs. It is important to give the athletes and guests from all over the world the opportunity to get to know the "cosmopolitan city with a heart" and to promote intercultural communication. In Munich, one or the other thing comes to mind - but more will not be revealed for the time being” says Burk.
Until the next meeting of the Organising Committee in April 2018, the planning of the individual areas will be continued in individual working groups.
